“COOKY” Black Chef Cookie Jar by Pearl China company, c 1940s. Excellent original condition, trimmed in 22K gold! Underside signed as “Pearl China, Hand Decorated 22kt Gold” with the number “639” impressed in the bottom as well. No chips, cracks or hairlines. There are 3 or 4 paint flakes missing as seen in the photos; 2 or 3 on the face & one on the left foot. These are not chips just tiny spots of missing paint. The gold paint is somewhat faded but not unusual for this jar or a jar of this age. The jar is in otherwise impeccable condition ready for display! Portions of this are “cold painted” where the paint was not fired under the glaze meaning it can chip or wear off. This was also quite a normal practice then when they were trying to produce inexpensive but attractive jars.
This jar comes with a handmade cleaning cloth, too, to help protect the finish on your fine, aging collectables like this fine jar. We make them ourselves with very soft hand woven materials and these will last and last for you not just for this jar but any fine item like this, china, porcelain silverware, almost anything! Nice thing right now in addition to a free cleaning cloth is … he’s on SALE! Holidays are coming and these jars make great gifts. We can ship them to the anticipated recipient for you & send the tracking information to you so you can follow its journey!
