Regal China Goldilocks Collector Cookie Jar

Regal China, Goldilocks Collector Cookie Jar. Original jar but we believe to be a very early production jar. While some jars are not marked at all, the defining script on the underside normally says “Pat Pending, Goldilocks #405”. Here’s a really different twist that we’ve never seen before for an authentic Regal China Goldilocks… This one states “Goldilocks # 54 – 803” furthermore, its stamped with the number “80” on the inside portion of the lid. Her colors are wonderful; brilliant reds, blues and yellows. No chips or cracks, just a couple of factory material “pops”. These are pretty normal and nothing to be concerned over, but we mention these in order to let you know everything up front. Goldilocks, this jar in any sort of reasonable condition is quickly becoming a hard to find jar. She’s always been a highly popular collectable cookie jar. This one is what I would consider a bit rarer and more unusual in that the markings, although this is a Regal China jar, are rather different than those jars we are used to seeing. I would maintain that this is an early 1954-year production piece of this jar by the markings shown and that this jar has. Metlox Pescado Fish Collector Cookie Jar. Original, not a reproduction. Very hard to find, listed in some books as “rare”. This is one very colorful jar. I’ve had this jar many times and the colors on this one are about as brilliant as they can be! No chips, no cracks, no repairs. Signed on the bottom (see photo) “Pescado Metlox, Calif Pottery…” Very clean jar. If it was ever used, it was used quite gently. No stains or cookie grease. American Bisque: (Possible look-a-like, a take-off on the original?) Casper, Collector Cookie Jar. I feel that this jar is a reproduction, however it was so clean, and, so close in appearance to the original, its very difficult to tell it apart from the original, if it is a reproduction. I am selling this as a reproduction for those of you who might want a filler jar until you can afford the real thing. Back-side is signed as is the original…. “Harvey Productions Inc, USA”. And its signed on the front “Casper”. This jar is more in line with the size of the candy jar than it is the original cookie jar. As you’re all well aware, the candy jar is very rare! Red Wing, Katrina (Dutch Girl) Yellow collector cookie jar. This jar is about as clean and damage-free as you can find. Brilliant, strong yellow color accented by the brown on the lid / apron. One of the best examples of this jar that I’ve seen in a very long time. Hardly any crazing, no chips, no cracks and hardly any cookie grease. She does have one extra brown spot of paint about the size of a pencil point that happened just before she was fired. Regal China Dutch Girl Collector Cookie Jar. No chips, no cracks. Hardly has any crazing at all, either! Has a couple of craze lines one is running vertically on the edge of the lid about 2 inches, can hardly notice it…its not a crack, it’s a craze line and it does not go through on the underside. Craze lines are just little crackles in the glaze and not in the jar material itself & most jars have some or a lot but does not take away from the beauty or value of the jar as you can see here. No biggie, but just thought to mention it. Bottom side is marked 54 – 200 and is faintly visible but its there! Very clean jar, had been in a personal collection for many years and it does not appear to have ever been used. No cookie grease inside the jar. Retains about 99% of the red paint…2 very miniscule areas missing paint where it has rubbed off over time; one is on the front of the skirt and the other spot is on the ribbon on the back. You don’t even notice! This jar is one of my favorites and one I feel is very well designed and beautiful. I love the colors. There’s just something about this jar that makes even advanced collectors notice. It has a ring to it like fine china when you tap it! This is a "must have" jar for your collection, beginner or advanced collector! Very fair price for this really hard to find jar, almost borders on "rare" but nonetheless, very difficult to find in any condition! Rest assured, it’s the real thing and NOT a reproduction. It also shows the copyright symbol, but the dates is faded and should say 1987 if it was visible. No chips, no cracks. Mint condition jar, never used. I am so pleased to be able to find so many of these vintage jars to offer you that have not been used, don’t have any cookie grease in them, etc. This is really a fine jar and is part of the trio; "Mona", "Dino" and "T Rex". Star Jars, Wizzard of Oz Emerald City Collector Cookie Jar. This is one monster jar! No chips, no cracks, practically perfect condition. Standing a whopping 15 ½ inches tall, it’s a very well made, very nicely detailed, heavy jar. Beautiful colors, wonderful depiction of Emerald City in the movie. This one is # 295 out of 625. Only 625 of these jars were ever made….with breakage and the problems Star Jars had in manufacturing them, how many less are there now??? This is a relatively low numbered jar since it is under 312 or under half of the jars made. Jar is in mint condition but there is no original box, sorry. Star Jars went out of business about 1999. Their jars were so large that at that time, it was a difficult sell to the collecting market. Now, they are bringing premium prices! One was recently seen on E bay for over $550! I’ve seen this particular jar priced as much as $1000! Here’s one of only 625 made for a VERY low price…grab it now! Coca Cola: Coca Cola Syrup Dispenser Style Collector Cookie jar. Released in the late 1990's & copied from the original & famous Coke Syrup Dispenser from the 1890’s, this jar is a wonderful replication of that Victorian syrup dispenser. It bears the Coca Cola label on the bowl and has the same wording that the original dispenser had on the base; "delicious & refreshing". These jars are out of production now, to my understanding, & they are becoming more and more difficult to find as time passes. Very desirable & highly collectable jar! Bottom-side has the original label showing this was authorized by & manufactured under the direction of Coca Cola. No chips, no cracks. Beautiful jar in mint condition ready for use and display. Vallona Starr: Winky Collector Cookie Jar. This is one of my favorite jars & one of the "holy grails" of cookie jar collecting! This jar is flawless, no chips or cracks. Most likely was never used since it has no cookie grease/stains inside. Minimal crazing. This jar has some of the best colors for this particular style that I have ever seen. Just love the orange against the sun-burst yellow tones and lots of it! Most jars barely have the cheeks in orange. Great jar, great color, great for any beginner or advanced collector of jars. Abingdon: Three Bears Collector Cookie Jar! Super nice condition, no chips, no cracks. Colors are strong, nice detail. Up close, you can see details that are intended to produce a "fuzzy hair" on the bears’ heads. Unmarked as some of these jars are inevitably, however, this is clearly Abingdon. Has a nice "ring" to it when tapping it, the sound of fine china. It does have the typical Abingdon "dimple" on the underside in the center of the bottom. Nice jar. Great for any collection! Maker Unknown: Garfield Collector Cookie Jar. Here’s a colorful character in more ways than one that we all know and love………Garfield. All that I can find on the jar to identify a maker is simply "PS83" on the underside. 1983 would be about right for this neat jar to have been made. The Bobb Merrill Co. Inc. Raggedy Andy Collector Cookie Jar

The Bobb Merrill Co. Inc.: Raggedy Andy? I believe this is Raggedy Andy since the hat is a hat, not the hair with the bow for the lid. The two jars, Raggedy Anne & Andy are pretty close with this manufacturer. Almost impossible to tell apart with the exception of the lids. Nice condition, no chips or cracks just some craze lines that show more on the underside than they do anywhere else, however, the hat has a couple of spots where it discolored from age, areas are circled in the photos. They are not badly discolored, just show a bit darker than the rest of the hat Also a couple of manufacturer flaws in the rim of the hat, too, slight indentations that are glazed over. Colors are vivid. This is a bright jar. Bottom shows numbers associated with the manufacturer although they are not all there….visible in the photo. Hat "finial" shows a daisy and a cookie. Cute jar, would make for a nice item in baby’s room for display. Book values this jar at around $200. Hull / Regal China: Little Red Riding Hood. Open basket jar with a small collection of poppies on the lower right side of her dress. This jar has one small factory flaw as seen on her apron. It’s a simple dark line inside of what apparently was a glaze bubble that popped & they pushed the material back together after the bubble popped. Its under the glaze, so, is not damage. Beautiful jar, no chips or cracks, very clean. Signed on the bottom "Little Red Riding Hood, Pat. Des. No. 135880 USA". This is not a reproduction jar. This is THE Red Riding Hood that is so highly collectable designed by Louise Bauer, marketed by Hull Pottery and manufactured by Regal China for Hull Pottery when their orders were more than they could fill. Napco: Little Red Riding Hood collector cookie jar. One of the most popular Red Riding Hood jars, this one is right on top in the collector’s list of must-have jars. No chips, no cracks. She bears the numbers on the underside; “K2292 Napco 1957 & JC” Still retains the best portion of the foil label, too! There are a couple of spots on the hood that originated with the manufacturer where the paint is a tad darker than the rest of the hood, like the airbrush shot a double dose of paint. Otherwise, this is one beautiful jar and a fine example to have in your collection. I’m betting this has been a shelf sitter all her life and has never been used; most likely remains a virgin! National Silver Mammy & Chef Collector Cookie Jars

National Silver: Mammy & Chef. Unmarked by unquestionably made by National Silver. Some of these jars were marked while others were not. These are not reproductions. This pair of jars came from an estate where they had served their purpose from when they were new. They are being offered together for the one price you see advertised. They’ve been together for all these (70+) years. I’ve decided that since they’ve been together all these years that they should remain together for the future. Please do not ask if I will split them up. The cost of the two jars together is less than the value of one. Both jars do have some minor issues, however, that need to be mentioned. The chef has a rough spot where there was some chipping on the base rim just under the lid. It does not show with the lid on. I’ve circled the area and identified it in one of the photos. Mammy does have an under the rim chip on the base that when you look directly at the rim you cannot really see it since it is more under the rim. She also has a small flake by her right arm. This sort of blends in with the color of the rest of the area but it is there. Both jars have lost cold paint and this is very typical for these jars and jars this old. The photos should help answer your questions but if not, please do write to me with any questions that you have. They both display very well & have a great appearance. In spite of the lack of cold paint, they retain a great appearance and color. Very solid jars. It would be nice to have a pair that have been together since they were new, wouldn’t it? That’s a very usual and a rare find in my consideration. Maker Unknown: ET…we’ve entered the age of plastic! Alas this strange fellow is made of hard plastic. This jar was one of the first incarnations of the ET alien image shortly after the movie came out. When he was not being used as a cookie jar, he doubled as a "handbag" for Halloween trick or treat. There was a handle on the back of him that’s what those two holes are for. He’s in perfect condition. No cracks. He doesn’t chip since he’s plastic. So, here he is, ET for your collection…….believe it or not, a difficult jar to find. Most of these ended up in the trash after the child beat them to death. Los Angeles Pottery: Cookies All Over CJ. Super nice condition. No chips or cracks. This jar is a mirror image almost of the really popular NAPCO jar. The only difference between this jar and the Napco Cookies All Over jar is the lid; to avoid copyright infringements, LA Pottery did not put any cookies on the lid of their jar like the Napco jar has. They just have the walnut finial "knob" & the lid is otherwise plain. This lid is also used on the LA Pottery Gingerbread Man CJ. This jar is very quickly going to the top of the collector’s list right along with the NAPCO jar. I think this was one of the most popular jars in the American household during the 50’s & 60’s. American Bisque AKA ABC: Baby Chick with Tam CJ. Beautiful colors! Great condition! It does have a small "bubble pop" on the edge of the lid rim. I’ve circled the spot in the photo. A bubble in the ceramic "popped" in the making process causing the pottery to separate slightly at this point. No big deal, but just thought to mention it. Someone who had this jar in their inventory at one time must have had a pretty bad knowledge of animals, they have it written on the bottom as "Cookie Jar 200, Canary". Canary? Hardly! They made two styles of this jar. The other style of this jar, the Chick’s tam (hat) is the lid, while this one the entire head is the lid. Again, very beautiful, colorful jar. American Bisque (ABC): Circus Clown made in 1959…..the year "the music died" when Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper went down in the plane crash in Iowa. Brush: Happy Clown Marked on the underside "W22 Brush USA". This is NOT a reproduction but he IS one of the cleanest & most colorful examples of this particular jar that I have ever seen. Very strong colors, great distinctive details. I really like the detail of the patch on the back of his trousers….see the stitching in the photo? No chips, no cracks & very minimal crazing. If you look at the photo showing the underside of the lid, there is an "extra" pottery chip that was stuck there during the firing process. Its just there stuck to the side of the inside part of the lid next to a spot that has thin material, possibly a post-manufacture chip that was glazed over. No biggie, was there from the people who made this guy. I don’t think he was used very much & certainly not abused at all. There’s no cookie grease inside, either. Brush Vintage Humpty Dumpty Collector Cookie Jar

Brush: Humpty Dumpty CJ. This vintage classic doesn’t need any introduction. Marked on the underside “W29 Brush USA”. One of the most popular Humpty Dumpty style jars! Highly sought after. This guy did fall down, however. If you look at the photos, I’ve circled a 2-inch very light hairline. Its hardly noticed and in the back of the jar. I almost didn’t notice it because it’s so light. It just looks like a wisp of very light brown hair there. Nothing to feel rubbing with your finger skin, either. There are 3 tiny spot along the underside of the lid, too, that I believe are factory glaze misses since the glaze is not there. They are just light rough spots. Other than these reports, there are no other chips, cracks or repairs. This is a very large jar. While some of the Brush Humptys have rather dull colors, this guy has strong colors and details. Tap him, he has the right ring and sound for a good jar. VERY clean jar, no cookie grease & the crazing is very minimal. I don’t think it was ever used and YES THIS IS AN ORIGINAL VINTAGE JAR…NOT a reproduction. I wouldn’t offer him if he wasn’t a good jar for your collection! Hull Little Red Riding Hood (Closed Basket) Collector Cookie Jar

Hull / Regal China: THE Little Red Riding Hood CJ. This is one with the closed basket. I’m sure if you’re familiar with this jar, you know that it was designed by Louise Bauer for Hull Pottery. When production of this jar got so far out for Hull to keep up with the orders, Hull brothers contracted the subsequent jars out to Regal China for manufacturing. This jar has a wonderful condition and color. I don’t think this jar has ever been used, no signs of cookie grease inside. There’s an extremely minimal crazing. There is one teeeeeeenie paint flake missing on the side of her hood. Please look at the photo where I’m pointing to the spot with my pen. The flake is literally the size of the pen tip. It appears that someone scratched the jar in this spot leading to this missing paint flake. Other than this & a couple of lighter paint spots on the head of the hood, she’s about as nice a jar of this style that you’ll ever find. See the photo for signature authentication of the jar. McCoy Cookie House Collector Cookie Jar

McCoy: Vintage Cookie House CJ. Nice, nice condition & great color. No chips or cracks but does have one tiny factory flaw shown in the one photo. It’s near the edge of the jar right in the corner. The pottery stressed and separated slightly during the firing process. Its just on the edge and rim of the jar base only about ¼ of an inch long, visible in the circled area in the one photo. This is not something that came from use or abuse it’s a factory glitch. Jar is appropriately signed with the correct McCoy signature on the underside. Minimal crazing and no darkened lines within from cookie grease. The jar most likely was a shelf-sitter all these years! McCoy: Baseball Glove Boy. Mint condition, no chips or cracks. Boy, you don’t see these very often! Very hard to find jar. This guy is in nice condition, one of the later McCoy jars made. This jar is much larger than he looks in the photo, so, don’t be surprised when you get him home! He has a different sound to him when you tap him or put the lid on, sounds more like expensive china rather than the old "clunk" sound that we’re used to when putting a lid on most older McCoy jar. Simple colors, simple look but a really great jar! Has the newer McCoy mark on the underside; "#221 McCoy USA LLC". Shawnee Jo Jo the Clown Collector Cookie Jar

Shawnee: This little guy really doesn’t need an introduction. He’s Jo Jo the clown! There are scads of these jars being reproduced, now, so you need to be very careful. Lots of ‘em going down the road on the online auction sites these days. You rarely if ever now see an original Jo Jo on the auctions anymore. This guy is the real deal…look at the ball on the seal’s nose. Its yellow, just like it should be and it was never broken off or repaired. That was a curse for these nice jars, the ball on the seal’s nose frequently broke off. There’s a slight bit of brown paint over-sprayed on the ball to demonstrate that the ball was there when the seal’s color was applied at the manufacturer. Nice jar, very brilliant & colorful. There is a bit of paint missing on his nose, but I tend to think that came that way, but won’t swear to it. The jar is otherwise appropriately marked on the underside as "Shawnee" and in superb condition. Shawnee pottery was well known for their excellent glazes that rarely crazed and this little is no exception to that quality. Hardly if any craze lines. Someone put some felt-like material on the pads of the jar and this is the 2 dark areas you see on the bottom to protect the jar & surface the jar rested on.. Pottery Guild: Borden’s THE Elsie the Cow. This is not a reproduction, it’s the real moo cow advertising for Bordens! On the base reverse it says "Use no hooks" & "Fragile" on the front it says "Elsie" & "Handle with Care". Shows off very nicely, but she does have some ouchies on the lid, please see the photos. These are either cracks, repairs or both. But in spite of them, they do not seem to compromise the structural integrity of the lid. Since this portion of the lid where the cracks are sit down below the rim of the base, they are not noticed nor is the chip on the rim of the base noticed when the lid is on. There aren’t any other concerns with this jar. Its definitely a nice piece to show off.

F & F Mold & Die Works of Ohio: Aunt Jemima Plastic CJ. This jar originally was a premium that you got when you sent in your postage fee to have the jar and a certain number of coupons. Made for the Aunt Jemima products, this jar is all plastic, made in the mid to late 50’s. She does have some ouchies; her seams are loose a tad bit and I’m not sure if there’s been a repair to her arm. See the photo. Its either a hairline or a repair. The paint is slightly worn, too, and she could use a light bath. The jar is basically very solid otherwise & she shows off very well. I’ve seen these in terrible condition on E bay sell for well over $200. Lane & Co.: Fruit Bowl style cookie jar. Lane & Co. is/was a popular California based firm that made these nice jars. This is really a very attractive jar, not very large but would make a great table centerpiece esp. if you don’t have any real fruit to display. Very bright, bold colors! I think I like this one better than the Shawnee fruit bowl, It seems to have greater detail, but they are both wonderful jars! This one has a fine basket weave design in the bowl & a greater diversity of fruit. Some minor, light crazing, but no chips or cracks, this vintage (50’s) jar is in really fine condition. He has a fine hairline that I am not sure that it shows thru inside the jar. If this is indeed a hairline crack, it is quite fine & not highly noticed. There’s a second one next to it that is shorter & will not photograph since its much lighter. The two lines may be just heavier crazing rather than hairline cracks. No other chips or cracks! Still a nice, vintage jar with a very friendly looking guy saying "please take me home and adopt me"! American Bisque: Original, Authentic, NOT A REPRODUCTION! One of the "holy grails" of cookie jar collecting! The original ABC (American Bisque Co) Popeye the Sailor bust cookie jar C mid 50’s! This guy is for real! There are no chips, no cracks, no damage of any kind. There is some crazing & some dark craze lines from cookie grease, to be expected from age & use. This jar was definitely used but not abused. On his left side, even with the pipe, (right side in photo(s), there is a factory blemish showing as a circular line in the pink cheek. This area is glazed over so that we know it came this way from the manufacturer & is forgivable. Its not very noticeable since its in the pink area of his cheek. Look at the photos carefully; you can tell that he’s for real. The base of the collar is not elevated to make up for the shrinkage as found in the reproductions. Everything about this jar says that he’s authentic. The pipe, however, may be a replacement. The original price tag is still on the collar from what the former collector paid for this great jar: $685.00! Sierra Vista (of California) Clown bust CJ. Smiling clown, happy clown! Beautiful, colorful jar. The only ouchies that I can see are shown in the photos….there’s a teenie bit of paint missing on his nose & there’s also either a very small flea bite on the edge of his hat or perhaps, that was a factory flaw where paint/glaze was missed. The aforementioned ouchies do not take anything away from this fine, vintage clown bust. Bottom is signed "Sierra Vista California USA". I tried to enhance that photo so you could see the signature. Metlox: Noah’s Ark CJ. This is a fun, whimsical jar! An owl and dove sit on the roof watching for land. The other animals anxiously look out of the windows to share the view. The edge is sort of "cut short" or curled over, but it is glazed demonstrating this came from the factory, so, nothing to be alarmed about. Homco: Upside down Santa. This is a really neat jar. Santa got stuck in the chimney! With the lid on, you just see his legs sticking out from in the chimney. When you remove the lid and turn it over, you see the rest of Santa struggling to free himself from being stuck in the chimney. There is some minor paint loss on Santa's legs as you see them sticking up and out of the chimney. Otherwise, there's no chips, cracks or other damage. This is really a fun jar and whoever created this design had great talent and imagination. Metlox: A Whale of a cookie jar with sea gull finial, impressed "Metlox" on the underside. This smiling whale CJ is fun in a lot of ways, one being that directly behind & underneath the gull, there's a spot of black paint that looks like gull poop! I would be willing to bet you that the artist working on this jar when it was created did that on purpose as his or her own silent joke! This spot definitely makes this a one-of-a-kind jar! There is a small spider-web style hairline that does show from the inside of the jar. I have circled the spot in one of the photos. Its not highly noticed and is right new the underside of the jar. Maddux of Calif: Shell cookie jar. I just love the finish on this beautiful, simple, jar. It has an irredecence to it that hints at a rainbow of different colors depending on the angle you look at it. The sides of the jar are adorned with sea shells "opposed" to one another; one is facing up, the other facing down alternating about the jar. The lid is also a seashell. Impressed on the bottom "Maddux of California". This is a fantastic jar, very neutral to go with any theme you may have, including your nautical theme. No chips or cracks, but, there are a few fine craze lines running vertically, up & down. You would never know they are there unless you scrutinize this jar carefully. Wonderful color & finish. This beautiful jar was marketed by Cracker Barrel C 1998. There is another Coke Dispenser style jar that is a whiter color & more slender than this jar is. This jar is in my opinion, far more appealing & beautiful. Its part of the "Victorian Series" & was "inspired" by the old style Coca Cola store syrup dispenser of C 1896. It stands a whopping 16 inches tall & has the sound of fine porcelain when you put the lid in place. No chips or cracks. Superb color & it does have an antiqued look of old porcelain, sort a slight beige color to the glaze. Wonderful, beautiful jar quickly going to the top of the collector's list. McCoy: Sad Clown CJ. Super nice condition leaving only one small glazed over factory blemish that is on the underside of the collar where it turns under at the base. Hardly noticed as the spot is about the size of a grease ant. No chips, no cracks, but there’s some small areas of paint loss in the smile, on the nose & knob of the lid. This is typical wear for this jar however, there’s hardly enough paint missing to mention. Slightly visible in the photos. Nice jar, marked with the newer McCoy mark. Has a super nice ring to it, too, when tapped like fine china. On a scale of 1 to 10, I’d rate this jar an 8. Questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me! Snoopy CJ made by "Benjamin & Medwin Inc. NY, NY. C '58, '66." This jar most likely was manufactured in 1966. Nice vintage jar, Snoopy sleeping on his dog house. This is a classic jar; the way we always remember Snoopy. Baby boomers! This jar is a must! Do you remember growing up watching the Peanuts' seasonal specials; "Its the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown", or, "A Charlie Brown Christmas", or, "Its the Easter Beagle Charlie Brown"? There were so many great Peanuts seasonal shows. This jar really brings me back! Up to Snoopy's nose, the jar is approximately 10 1/2 inches high. Appears to have some minor paint spots missing on the left side of the roof but I'm not totally sure since there are some thin brush strokes allowing the white underneath the red glaze to show through & those what appear to be missing paint spots sort of blend in. American Bisque: Davy Crockett CJ. Yes, the real thing. This one is not being reproduced the last time I checked. It does have the appropriate "chop" marks inside the lid and in the base that were put there by the artisan who made this. Some of these jars, however, are not marked as "USA" on the reverse side, and, this one is not. 11 inches tall, no chips, no cracks no damage of any kind. This jar is basically pristine with the exception of some minor crazing typical with aged jars and some minor paint drips from the manufacturer. Very difficult jar to find, listed in some books as "rare". It will definitely be a very long time before you find a jar this nice of this style, again! Great vivid colors, great jar! Robinson Ransbottom ~AKA~ RRPCO Jardiniere Set Collector Cookie Jars

RRPCO: Jardiniere set C 1930's. Set consists of four graduated sizes of "nesting" jardinieres. One jardiniere has a small chip at the base, its the second one in on the left. I've put a pointing arrow to the spot in the photo. One is signed with the appropriate RRPCO signature. This is one reason why when these sets are often split up, particularly during an auction at the auctioneer's discretion, that we lose out on knowing who made these pieces. Quite frequently, the manufacturer would only mark one piece since they were always sold as a set. Tiffany quite frequently conducted this practice with the shades on their lamps that had cluster lights. Only one shade was signed so that if the rest "got away" from the "nest" no one could truly identify them as being Tiffany shades other than they could say they were "Tiffany look-a-likes". All the other pots are in perfect, damage-free condition. Nice color. This is a heavy set. Each individual "pot" is quite heavy and well-made in its own right. This is a nice find to have all four jardinieres together as they were intended to be. American Bisque: Vintage original jar. No real "damage" just a manufacturer's flaw on the edge of the "roof". On the underside, there is a "chip" or what looks like WAS a chip just prior to glazing. It is glazed over, its smooth, not highly noticed unless you really look, so it is not a recent damage. It came that way from the maker. Heavy, nice jar with clear vibrant colors, minimal crazing. There's also a small nick on the "collar" just under the lid on the right side. These "ouchies" are hardly noticed & most likely occurred when he fell off the wall. I almost missed notice of them. Attributed to American Bisque as the manufacturer, but actually made by Ungemach. This popular guy does have some issues; the paint has a series of "pops" in the glaze and some dripping on the backside. The drips are not highly prevalent but are there if you look enough. Some of the paint "pops" can be seen on his forehead and on the left side of the jar around & below his ear. There are no chips or cracks in the jar. Nice shelf sitter, looks good. Priced accordingly...would make a nice "stand in" for your collection until you find a mint condition jar! Maddux of California; Humpty Dumpty cookie jar with matching bookends! The jar is difficult in itself to find but to find it with the bookends too, is even more difficult! The bookends were intended to hold your cookie recipe cook books or your cook books right near the jar. The jar does have a small, almost invisible "flea bite" in the paint on his right knee. This is not damage to the jar itself, just a paint flake is missing. This was VERY typical for this jar. Its so small, it will not photograph. What you see on both of knees in the photo is a camera flash. Otherwise, there are no cracks, chips or repairs. The bookends are perfect, no damage. This is a very large, heavy, well-made jar.
