National Silver Mammy & Chef Collector Cookie Jars
National Silver: Mammy & Chef. Unmarked by unquestionably made by National Silver. Some of these jars were marked while others were not. These are not reproductions. This pair of jars came from an estate where they had served their purpose from when they were new. They are being offered together for the one price you see advertised. They’ve been together for all these (70+) years. I’ve decided that since they’ve been together all these years that they should remain together for the future. Please do not ask if I will split them up. The cost of the two jars together is less than the value of one. Both jars do have some minor issues, however, that need to be mentioned. The chef has a rough spot where there was some chipping on the base rim just under the lid. It does not show with the lid on. I’ve circled the area and identified it in one of the photos. Mammy does have an under the rim chip on the base that when you look directly at the rim you cannot really see it since it is more under the rim. She also has a small flake by her right arm. This sort of blends in with the color of the rest of the area but it is there. Both jars have lost cold paint and this is very typical for these jars and jars this old. The photos should help answer your questions but if not, please do write to me with any questions that you have. They both display very well & have a great appearance. In spite of the lack of cold paint, they retain a great appearance and color. Very solid jars. It would be nice to have a pair that have been together since they were new, wouldn’t it? That’s a very usual and a rare find in my consideration. F & F Mold & Die Works Aunt Jemima Collector Cookie Jar
F & F Mold & Die Works of Ohio: Aunt Jemima Plastic CJ. This jar originally was a premium that you got when you sent in your postage fee to have the jar and a certain number of coupons. Made for the Aunt Jemima products, this jar is all plastic, made in the mid to late 50’s. She does have some ouchies; her seams are loose a tad bit and I’m not sure if there’s been a repair to her arm. See the photo. Its either a hairline or a repair. The paint is slightly worn, too, and she could use a light bath. The jar is basically very solid otherwise & she shows off very well. McCoy Cauliflower Mammy Reproduction Collector Cookie Jar
Reproduction: McCoy Cauliflower Mammy CJ, signed “McCoy”. Nice jar, but lacks the size & detail of the original. This is an older reproduction C 1970′s. It resembles the original in style but lacks the size of the original. But wow, she is close! Some paint missing, crazing all about the jar. No chips or cracks. If you can’t find or afford an original right now, here’s a less expensive alternative for you. Let’s face it reproductions are here to stay & we can live with them as long as someone doesn’t try to pass one off on you as the real thing! Reproduction or not, still a nice jar!
