American Bisque “ABC” Chalkboard Clown Collector Cookie Jar. Fun, friendly, colorful jar! On the front above his chalkboard it says “don’t forget” while on the back it says “try mom’s cookies”., making for a more interesting jar. Again, a “baby boomer” jar, a jar many of us grew up with during a time when mom cared enough to bake real cookies! No chips (or chocolate chips, either, but includes a smidgen of the cookie grease from mom’s chocolate chips in the bottom), no cracks, no hairlines or other damage. Jar is in superb condition with the exception of some minor paint loss as seen on his face. Chalkboard is very clean very well displaying that it likely was never used. “Magnet” intact in upper right corner of chalkboard. Bottom side is marked “Patent Pending USA”, very typical mark for this jar. Wonderful jar, fantastic condition! Part of a series of “chalkboard” jars made by ABC. Maddux: Clown Collector Cookie Jar. Here he is! One of the hardest to find of the clown jars and one of the most colorful jars in his class! This jar is absolutely stunning with the bright colors. There are two versions of this jar, the under glaze & cold painted version. This one is the cold-painted version. No chips, no cracks or hairlines. Look carefully at some of the photos you will see some cold paint missing. Miraculously, his face paint has survived well. Overall, about 98% of the paint is intact. The base itself is under glaze, only the face, lid, and buttons on the base are cold paint. The lid is huge; the head of the clown extends about 10 inches into the air. I have always liked this jar; the smiling face, the fun feeling that you get looking at him. Generous jar for holding cookies. I tried to photograph the name but it kept coming out blurry; the jar is signed on the back near the bottom, “Maddux of Calif with the number 2102″. Beautiful jar and my absolute favorite clown jar. I feel proud to offer this one for sale! A must for any collection! Brush: Happy Clown Marked on the underside “W22 Brush USA”. This is NOT a reproduction but he IS one of the cleanest & most colorful examples of this particular jar that I have ever seen. Very nice, original, shiny finish. Great colors! Nice, clever details….look at the “stitched patch” on the rear of his pants! Very clean jar. No cookie grease. No chips, no cracks or hairlines. Base has a nice ring as it should when tapped. The jar does have a couple of factory flaws; there are some glaze pops noticeable in the photos on his pants. They appear as pin point lighter brown spots. Nothing terrible to report but we just want to mention them. There’s also a spot where the pottery shrank during the firing process and it appears as a crack on the rim of the lid. Its not a crack and is glazed over. I don’t think he was used very much & certainly not abused at all. This is a very large, very tall, fantastic vintage 50’s jar. He’s a MUST for anyone’s collection! A well cared for jar! Shawnee Jo Jo the Clown Gold Trimmed Collector Cookie Jar. Here he is! The elusive and very difficult to find, Gold Trimmed Jo Jo the Clown. Singed on the bottom “Shawnee USA 12”. This jar is original & NOT a reproduction. The gold trim accents make Jo Jo & his colors truly stand out adding an elite touch to this already beautiful, very popular & highly sought after jar. No chips, no cracks, no hairlines and no visible crazing! Shawnee has always been highly collectable for its glaze that never seems to crackle / craze as most of the jars do. They had some special secret that keeps their jars looking like new forever! The ball on the seal’s nose is also intact! This is a very clean jar. Metlox: Full Figure Black Trim Clown Collector Cookie Jar. This jar is by far my most favorite clown jar. The detail and color is fantastic. I’ve never seen a better-detailed, full figured clown. This jar is one of the more difficult to find versions of the Metlox full figure clown. He has the black trim and all the colors are  under the glaze so they won’t wash off, unlike the full figure yellow Metlox clown. I don’t believe this jar was ever used. It’s very clean & totally damage-free. No chips, no cracks, just some light crazing. Can’t be seen in the foto, sorry, but it is signed on the underside, “Metlox made in USA”.
