Lipper & Mann ~Japan~ Sad Clown Basket Handled Collector Cookie Jar
Lipper & Mann (Japan) Sad Clown Basket Handled Collector Cookie Jar. Nice jar, nice colors, no chips or cracks! These basket handled jars were pretty popular in the late 30’s and 40’s. He’s probably more of a biscuit jar than a cookie jar but nonetheless still a great collector jar. This sad looking clown is asking you to adopt him. Made in Japan, &, as you can see, he still has his original foil label imprinted with “Lipper & Mann Japan”. Slight touch of cookie grease in the bottom of the jar but does not show heavily, just enough to let you know this was pre-owned but well cared for jar. A couple of paint flecks missing on his nose, but overall, this is excellent considering the nose is cold-painted. Handle in superb condition. Overall, great looking jar. Would be a nice touch to a child’s room theme esp if you like clowns! Reasonably priced to sell right away! McCoy Nabisco Barnum's Animal Crackers Clown Collector Cookie Jar
Nabisco Barnum’s Animal Cracker Jar made by McCoy Collector Cookie Jar. Mint condition, no chips or cracks! Great color, nice jar made c 1970. This is a real McCoy! Bottom impressed with “USA” & # 152, this information doesn’t show well in the photo, but its there. Remember when we were kids? We could go to the ma/pa corner store with a nickel and buy one of the “Barnum Animal” crackers boxes full of those tasty animal crackers. Back then of course, they cost 3 c to 5 c a box. They still sell them today, however, I’m sure those small boxes are well over a dollar now. This should bring back some baby-boomer memories! Great jar that we all grew up with! American Bisque [ABC] Clown Collector Cookie Jar
American Bisque (ABC): Circus Clown made in 1959…..the year “the music died” when Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper went down in the plane crash in Iowa. This jar probably heard that message come over the radio! This is about the best example of this colorful jar that I’ve seen in a VERY long time. Super nice, very clean condition. No chips, no cracks very minimal crazing. No cookie grease, no dark crazing lines inside or outside the jar. Most likely it was just a shelf sitter all these years! Incredibly, he retains most of his ORIGINAL cold-paint, too! Marked USA on the underside, and it has all the right marks elsewhere too….look inside the jar and you’ll find the “chop marks” to identify the authenticity, the initials of the maker of this particular jar who worked for American Bisque. If you like clowns……he’s waiting to be proudly displayed in YOUR collection! Click the add to cart and buy him! It’s as easy as “ABC”. Wallet friendly price, too! Don’t just buy an American Bisque Clown jar, buy this one as an investment & for the memories! Brush Vintage Happy Clown Collector Cookie Jar
Brush: Happy Clown Marked on the underside “W22 Brush USA”. This is NOT a reproduction but he IS one of the cleanest & most colorful examples of this particular jar that I have ever seen. Very strong colors, great distinctive details. I really like the detail of the patch on the back of his trousers….see the stitching in the photo? No chips, no cracks & very minimal crazing. If you look at the photo showing the underside of the lid, there is an “extra” pottery chip that was stuck there during the firing process. Its just there stuck to the side of the inside part of the lid next to a spot that has thin material, possibly a post-manufacture chip that was glazed over. No biggie, was there from the people who made this guy. I don’t think he was used very much & certainly not abused at all. There’s no cookie grease inside, either. This is a very large, very tall, fantastic vintage 50’s jar. He’s a MUST for anyone’s collection!
