In fact 99% of the cold-paint is intact on this jar along with the original “Made in Japan” foil label on the underside. Mickey Mouse sitting on his birthday cake. 50th anniversary … 1928 – 1978. Underside also impressed with the manufacturer mark, “MR” in the circle I put around it. I don’t think this jar ever had cookies in it. Its very very clean & there is no cookie grease in the bottom. The darker tone you see in the base is just the heavier application of glaze.
Now, don’t panic. Yes! The lid Mickey sits on is white while the rest of the jar is a cream color. I have no idea why they did this but all these jars are like this. The lid is the original lid to this jar!! I have 4 of these in my own collection. Very beautifully detailed jar as you see it, looks good enough to eat !! Great jar for the beginner or advanced collector! Great price, too, since the book value shows to be $1100. These jars are rather fragile & its no wonder not many have survived to help make this rather limited production jar more limited. Considering how some people pack so badly, the jars are quickly dwindling in number because of this, too! Not to worry, we pack for earth quakes. In the ten + years this site has been up and running WE HAVE NOT LOST ONE JAR YET! Remember, the collecting population is growing and the supply is not!
