Marked “Hand Painted Occupied Japan”, I believe this little guy is a reproduction. Made of fine bisque porcelain, this is still an eye-catcher and nice item for display. Little black boy is eating his watermelon lying on top of a chest. I believe, too, that this was meant to be a humidor, also could be a candy jar. No chips or cracks.
