Mammy Planter made in Japan ~~ RARE~~…companion to the basket handled biscuit jar! Marked on the underside “Japan”. This cute little piece stands only about 4 1/2 inches tall. It does have 2 factory flaws that show in the photos on the rim. Apparently the material shrank some during firing causing slight separations as shown. It was stored in a china cabinet in a Virginia estate and had barely ever seen sunlight. The colors are vivid and the piece looks like new! Very difficult to find piece, considered rare. No chips, no cracks other than the manufacturer flaws and no chips. The paint is in near perfect condition. The companion basket handle jar has a book value of about $1000. This piece is even more difficult to find than the jar. Great sale price, great piece!
